Starting the Non-Profit

We have finally started the Non-Profit! We could not be more excited right now! This is something that is long over due and we are so thankful to finally have things up and running. Many of you are here to find out what B&K Remembered is about and how it came to be. I can tell you that the About Story is MUCH better than the Why Story.
In July, 2009 Gregg and Meredith Ramer had a parents worst nightmare come true when their 26 month old twins climbed in to a relatives pool and drowned. A phone call telling you to get to the hospital because there had been an accident is the worst possible feeling in the world. A feeling of uncertainty and a mixture of emotions all pouring out as you make your way to the hospital, only to find that your daughter didn't make it and your son was barely hanging on. It is truly a nightmare. A nightmare that plays over and over again. You can read a more in depth post about the accident here on Meredith's blog.
How many of you have heard of ISR (infant swimming resource)? ISR is an AMAZING program that teaches Aquatic Survival Skills to children ages 6 months to 6 years of age. It is a BIG focus for B&K Remembered. We hope to raise money to help families with financial assistance for ISR lessons so that not one more child drowns and not one more parent goes through the pain and heartache that Gregg and Meredith have endured with the loss of Brayden and Kenadi. ISR arms children with the skills to survive if they were to accidentally end up in the water alone. Gregg and Meredith have enrolled their daughter Kaidi in the lessons for the past 2 summers. Last year, Kaidi was 7 months old and was taught to roll onto her back to float, rest and breathe, and to maintain this life-saving position until help could arrive. Currently, Kaidi is taking lessons at the age of 18 months and has been taught to swim with her head down, roll onto her back to float, rest and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until she reaches the side of the pool. With B&K Remembered, we hope to raise money to bring pool and water safety awareness to our community and reach out by having someone trained in the ISR Certification program so that we can teach as many children as possible how to save themselves in the water. We also hope to bring child-oriented community improvements, scholarships and bereavement/financial support to parents who have lost children.
If you are interested in donating to B&K Remembered, you can click the Donate Button  on the right side of this page (under the photo of Brayden and Kenadi). Thank you for your support and we look forward to sharing some upcoming events/activities that we have in store for B&K Remembered.
